As I was reading National Geographic this morning, I kept looking at new pictures of our universe and returning to one thought – Our Father’s omnipresent creativity. Dark matter – dark energy – pullilng – repelling – defining – expanding – all patterns that still echo the sprials of our own DNA – His DNA.
“Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness…” Gen 1:26
I totally get excited that knowledge keeps expanding – that science seeks answers for my unending questions which this restless soul is too dense to seek for self. Traces of His handiwork viewed darkly- golden flecks in the iris of His omniscient eye – veins of connectivity linking galaxies and unseen dimensions into a glorious masterpiece. Images that will return to me when the world darkens with fear and chaos. Images that reflect His promises given so long ago but – perhaps – just days ago according to His timeline.
“Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth…” Gen 1:14-15
Whether our lowly minds consider it billions of years ago or whether it was in 7 of His days, little matters to me. It is His eye where perception lies, His image creating unending creatures…vistas…dimensions…universes… and it is within His Hand where it is written. Even when I am overwhelmed, when my knees hurt from the collapse that could not be forestalled one more minute, it is then – then – when there is only darkness and fear – that I will curl in the palm of His hand and rest my head. My name written among the universe in the palm of His hand and rest.
“So when you’re on your knees and answers seem so far away
You’re not alone, stop holding on and just be held
Your worlds not falling apart, its falling into place
I’m on the throne, stop holding on and just be held
Just be held, just be held…” Casting Crowns
Love it when God moves in our world!
