RATIONS 100 DAYS #17

Errrr…….

When the day starts out coughing and coughing and coughing – at 5:30 in the morning. you wish you could just curl back up in bed and sleep the rest of the day away. BUT as we all know lying down and coughing are not two things that can happen simultaneously.

So the dogs and I got up – trying to hack quietly in the hallways, so we wouldn’t wake hubby or the Littlest and her family in the spare bedroom. I tend to be grumpy when this type of stuff interrupts my sleep. Sleeping in is the true gift of retirement. After all, those early morning risings at 5:30-6 o’clock should be in the past.

So I grabbed a blanket out of the hall closet and curled up in the recliner so I could kinda lay myself down and still sit up. Before I knew it, there was a 100 pound lab curled into my side. The chair was kind of crowded. And that is when I realized how blessed I was to be awake before the rest of the household and grumpiness drifted out the opened window.

“Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
his love endures forever.” ~1 Chron 16:34

The Bible tells the story of David building a special tent for the Ark of the Covenant to rest. What it doesn’t tell is that there was a plague that came later. Jewish sages say that it was killing 100 people a day. King David believed that every physical disease has a spiritual medicine that will cure it.

So King David told his people to daily give thanks of 100 blessings – a blessing for each soul that the plague was stealing. Instead of being fearful and losing their faith in EL, the people began to notice God in their lives – carrying them through the hard day of carrying for the sick and burying those who had passed. The plague disappeared and the people found their faith.

So as the America’s Prayer Minute approaches, I am blessing the LORD today for the cough that woke me up to birds singing, a wonderful breeze drifting int the window and a “tiny” lab curled into my side. And if my strength is strong enough – this bacteria will float right out on the wings of this blessing.

“Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God; and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him…For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?” ~1 Jn 5:1,4-5

“Why all this insistence on a creed? It does not make any difference what a man believes, if he leads a good life.

“For the past few years, this has been an oft repeated statement. Today, we realize how superficial it is. We now see what certain beliefs do to a whole people. Our combat with other forces is not just on the field of battle. It is not just in numbers of tanks, ships, planes and men.

“n the history of man, the final battle has always been won by convictions. Do we believe as whole-heartedly in God, in the equality of all men in justice, and in freedom, as our enemies believe in the state, race superiority, tyranny and slavery? Do we believe as much in Jesus Christ as our leader as they believe in their leader? If we do, then we shall have the victory that overcometh the world – – – a victory of peace and good will.

“Prayer: Grant to us, LORD, the spirit to think and do always such things as are right; that we, who cannot do anything that is good without thee, may by thee be enabled to live according to they will. Amen.”
