“By wisdom a house is built;
it is made secure through understanding.
By knowledge its rooms are furnished
with all sorts of expensive and beautiful goods.”~Prov 24:3-4

Seems like a most appropriate verse for this week. Papers to juggle. Deliveries to receive. Workmen to consult. Wish lists compiled. “By wisdom a house is built…” I think we are going to need WISDOM every minute of every day (and probably even as we sleep). The regeneration has begun once again.

Definition of regeneration:  noun re·gen·er·a·tion \ri-ˌje-nə-ˈrā-shən, ˌrē-\

  1. 1:  an act or the process of regenerating :  the state of being regenerated

  2. 2:  spiritual renewal or revival

  3. 3:  renewal or restoration of a body, bodily part, or biological system (as a forest) after injury or as a normal process

  4. 4:  utilization by special devices of heat or other products that would ordinarily be lost

I re-read this verse a few times today. Underlined it. Circled it. Pondered it – and pondered it again. “…it is made secure through understanding…” The WORD is like that. I’ve read this particular chapter many times over the past few years. Mostly, on the 24th day of the month. Did you know there are 31 chapters in the book of Proverbs? A pretty easy read in a month. Even so – Jehovah Shammah manages to point out something new – – – if my eyes and heart are open.

Today – He did it again. He is seeking to change my inner home as well as my physical abode. {Gotta love the metaphoric language of a good proverb} When you start following “G-d-nudges”, you will find He just “nudges” you more and more.

Somehow re-doing – regenerating –  a physical house seems much easier than re-generating a spiritual home. Like most people, I seem to always find time to do what this world requires and live-in-the-land-of-later for when it comes to my spiritual home. So tonight, after running all afternoon in three different hardware stores, looking at rows and rows of tile, talking to various construction workers and hubby, I collapsed with my Bible in hand and found Prov 24.

God is good. He knew what I needed before I did…KNOWLEDGE, WISDOM, DISCERNMENT.

Tonight I walked around the house again. Looking at the color choices. The design outlined in our heads for the kitchen. The tile for the bathroom that sits in the back of the car. “…by knowledge its rooms are furnished…” The physical house is taking shape, and with lots and lots of prayer, so is my spiritual house. Room by room. Piece by piece. I tear out this part and replace it with something more functional and vital to the home I want to create for my LORD to live in with me.

The forced quiet that the snow storm brought to both houses has already started to melt away in the NC warmth. “…with all sorts of expensive and beautiful goods.”   Tomorrow, the frenzy of our chaotic world revs up again. While we will try not to fill our home with too much of the expensive “stuff”, we do hope it will be beautiful. However, we already know that the price paid for our spiritual home is beyond compare and more beautiful than any treasure found on earth.

Just a little more work. Just a little more time. Just a little more trust. Just a little more listening. Just a little more wisdom made secure through understanding. It is truly a regeneration. Blessings!Be!regeneration

Believe-1Today was a day of contrasts. The kid who has spent the past two days in melt-down mode found the laughter button. Warm sunshine played hide and seek with rain-heavy, dark clouds. A secular world intrusion into my day made me smile while a spiritual world experience brought tears. It is Wednesday. Hump day. Half of my work week is complete. I can start looking forward to the Grands coming for their 2nd overnight stay, and (once they are gone) finishing the painting of the master bedroom. Play and work. Meditation and activity. Silence and music. Books and writing. Tom Hanks and the Newsboys. For a gemini, it is a perfect day.

“Listen, you heavens, and I will speak; hear, you earth, the words of my mouth. Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants.” Deut 32:1-2 This lenten journey has not felt like previous years, and I’m not sure why. I finished my lenten devotional. Still reading others. Watching the skies. But instead of going quickly the time seems to be dragging, and I keep wanting it say, “Hurry up, will you?” It feels more like Christmas when I was a kid. Waiting. Expectation. Breathless. Impatient. Thinking that the darkness would never pass. Maybe it is all the crazy things going on in the world, Maybe it is all the signs in do-you-believethe earth that seem to be replicating passages in the Bible. Maybe it is all the movies, music and books that seem to be shouting the name of G-d to the whole world. Roma Downy, not content to just do movies shouting His holiness, is planning a new version of “Touched by an Angel” TV show for next September. Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.” Jn 13:7 We never know what lies ahead; it is only in hindsight that we see the road plainly. We walk our paths. Share our gifts. Raise our families. Pray for our families, others and ourselves. Stumble over rocks during our testing periods and bandage the bloody parts until they heal. I don’t understand why I awake expectantly every day or go to sleep with one eye looking out the window. I don’t know why I feel like I need to read more and more and more. I don’t know why I cry almost everytime I hear the song, “We Believe” by the Newsboys. I just know that I do and my heart is soaring higher every day. I believe. Those Who Are Choosen – Terra

hubblehelter skelter

litter lining notes

scattered noise

voices echoed

gathered gems strung

until Conductor lifts hands…

cascading coloratura shading,

adagio building

to allegro

Melodious movements

uniting symphonic patterns

creation merging

into terra firma.

Terra had been here long before the people or the animals or even before the single-cell amoeba that would eventually float beneath a moon-lit, akianestarry sky.  Thus a habitat was designed.  Separated from the water, the land, with all its cracks, crevices, up-lifted, jagged tips and rich treasures, waited and thrummed with the ancient harmonies that had created it.  It remembered, deep within its eternal matter, the first day when a ball of fire had risen over the horizon, warming its crust and drying the edges that were soon lapped by water’s sweet kiss; for what is one without the other?  Together, they formed Terra, a small body floating within the Hand of the universe.  Terra trembled and rejoiced at the life that filled her small body.

And Goodness reigned.

Notes tumbled over the surface and soon fields of sweet smelling mosses and grasses bloomed upon her surface.  The land shook with pleasure as repeated chords spread, settling their roots deep into her uncultivated soil.  Mother earth had given birth to first child.  And, as if overnight, taller bushes and trees emerged as well, sinking their deeper roots and binding the heavier vegetation to the land.  Beneath the surface of the water, the unending harmonies continued to swirl.  New life drifted with the currents or planted shallower roots into its loosely packed bottom, a new movement within Creation’s symphony.  Sparkling notes of color splashed across the surface of the land or under the shallow water, and newly formed flowers lifted their heads for the sun’s blessing and mingled their fragrances with all the others that swirled in the dance of creation. Ripeness filled the space, surrounding the land.

And Goodness reigned.

Terra shifted again, shrugging its shoulders within its ever-changing center.  She shivered in anticipation as she felt the Conductor’s hand stir the breezes over her well-formed face.  Small tiny creatures broke the surface of the waters while others crept from beneath the towering trees.  Sniffing the air, sniffing each other, they breathed in the scent of Terra, and imprinted it upon the life that coursed through their newly formed bodies. Terra breathed them in as well.  Another movement in the symphony of life had been completed, and the harmonies rose into the heavens and spread the joy beyond the stars and into the very reaches of its beginnings.  Beneficial changes enriched the land and the water, while ripeness filled the space surrounding the land.

And Goodness reigned.

Routine and peace were established upon the land.  But as in all physical things, adjustments continued to occur.  Stones settled. Laws of gravity pulled.  The land breathed in deeply, spewing liquid to form new domains. Stretching, it settled the rumblings in her belly for a time.  The search_for_truth-300x225water responded as well, reaching high into the sky, to reclaim some of the land and bring new richness to her own life as it cut  new in-roads through brother land’s formations.  Hugging each other, the siblings blended together, finding new harmonies in their changing forms. The symphony continued while Terra vibrated, and the creatures frolicked.  It was a new blessing to all that was upon the land. A beneficial movement that enriched the nubile siblings called land and water, while ripeness filled the space surrounding.

And Goodness reigned.

Time stood still and the land held her collective breath, waiting to see what the melody would bring forth next.  Harmonies took on new power, as the notes deepened.  Terra’s core hummed in resonance to the new movement that covered the whole with its powerful cadences. The water’s harmonics reverberated each note on a higher level.  Taking a little of each, molding small particles of the water and land into a new shape, the Conductor’s voice spoke once again.  The Instruments hushed their sound, and Terra shook with pleasure.  Breathing notes deep into the new shapes, the Conductor and His instruments sang a new note, while Terra and her inhabitants watched the new beings open their eyes for the very first time. But the Conductor was not done.  Sons of Gods could not be alone, so he spoke again.  The instruments rested.  Long of limb and bright of eye, the Sons and Daughters of God, side-by-side, stood, their hands locked together as they absorbed the harmonies deep into themselves and gazed upon their new habitat.

And Goodness reigned.

But some of the instruments stopped their notes.  They looked upon the new beings and shuddered.  They cried dissonant notes upon the land in their anger.  Free will?  Sentient beings?  Eternal life?  Like them?  They threw down their instruments and walked away from the concert.  Chords broke apart as lines were drawn.  Sides chosen.  Rebellious words spoken.   Swords rose.  War waged.  Siblings fought siblings.  Abysses created.  Peace shattered.  Evil emerged.  Terra rocked upon its axis while dissonance resounded against the land’s features.  The water turned dark with dread, rocked back and forth, back and forth, as tears formed white caps upon its crests. The land wept as evil swept across its surface.  Sons of God wept. Sons of Man raised their fists.

And for many, many generations…Goodness did not reign.

But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,  but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark;  and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took  them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.”  Matt 24:36-41
