RATIONS 100 DAYS #19

“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a GIFT of God, which is shy we call it the present.”~Bill Keane, Family Circus author/cartoonist

Bill Keane got this right on three accounts.
Family is a three-ring circus extravaganza.
Family is a precious gift.
Family is beyond the chains of time.

This week has been a family circus. Crowded dinner tables, laughter over memories, tripping over multiple dogs lying in the exact places where someone wants to walk, Goodwill hunting for school clothes, dreaming dreams through each other’s eyes and finding that circle that ties us all together into that GIFT we call family.

Starting out as an infant, we have a limited concept of family. As we age it grows to include extended family. As we gain knowledge, we recognize it includes those who have come before us and those we hold in our strong arms. As we grow in wisdom, we understand that there is more to family than that physical shape and the name by which they are known.

Like the Creator, who gave us this precious GIFT, family is timeless. It is our history. It is totally a mystery how it will evolve in our future. It is a daily gift of precious love, forgiveness, dancing at sunrise, stretching under the sun, holding hands in the twilight and a reunion beyond compare when the curtain is ripped apart.

“”HOLY, HOLY, HOLY is THE LORD GOD, THE ALMIGHTY, WHO WAS AND WHO IS AND WHO IS TO COME.”~Rev 4:8

FAMILY – Face your family, know thyself, know the precious gift that surrounds you. Today’s RATION – right on again. Can’t tell me that God is not the ultimate author of all things precious. Holy, Holy, Holy…

“I saw…the LORD.~Is 6:1
“I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips.”~Is 6:5

“‘Know thyself.’ said a great teacher. To know myself I must have a standard of measurement. It cannot be myself; it cannot be other people; it must be the highest; it must be God. Isaiah faced God and found himself,

“Face God! See your unholy self against the holiness of God. Face all of yourself before God.

“Face your failures! Where do you fail and why? Get rid of alibis.

“Face your success! Bring your plans and amibitions into the prsence of God and test them.

“Face your family! Are those relationships right?

“Face your friends! Do they make or break you?

“Face your foes! Can you face them as Jesus faced Judas and say, ‘Friend?’ Can you love them?

“Face your finance! What story does your bank book tell- – – love of God or of self?

“Face your fears! Why fear? Perfect love satesth out fear.’

“Face your future! Is there anxiety or trust?

“Prayer: O God, I face all that I am before thee. I let thee come to make me what I ought to be. My past, present, and future I commit to thee. Command my strength now. In Christ’s name. Amen.”

25 NAMES OF CHRISTMAS – GIFT

csscscsToday has been a blessed day. I am still coughing, hacking and whining. I am still plagued by two choc labs who think it is perfectly okay if they jump in any lap available when they are playing (think – homebase in tag). I STILL have not gotten my Christmas cards done. But today was that special- wrapped-with-all-the-trimmings gift placed in my hands by my Father.. How awesome is that? Unbelievably, it happens every day; we just don’t notice it most of the time..

“Every good and perfect gift descends from above, from The Father of lights with whom there is no change nor a shadow of variation.”~James 1:17

T’is the season for giving. Gifts sit under my small little trees. Others sit in bags under the trees’ tables. We are lucky and blessed that we are able to do so much. There has been many years when we scraped the bottom of our coin jar to find enough money to buy our gifts. So this year has been a gift.I think when you are sick, you noticed the little things because you slow your steps to match that jerky, up-and-down pace that is occuring inside your body.

“But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.”~Rm 5:15

If you read yesterday’s post, I talked about going to one of the houses we had put an offer on last week. I didn’t do much but pray and listen. Occasionally, I remember that is the best thing to do. So I was not surprised when we woke up this morning to find a gift awaited us in the form of a text. That houses that had been lost had been found. A counter offer. A decisionto be made. A gift to be opened.

“Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.”~2 Cor9:15

The Christmas Spirit has made its way into our home this year. I wasn’t sure it wm485-lwould. The house is not totally decked out as it usually is. Some of my favorite Chrismtas things remain packed away. Between packing decisions, financial decisions, home decisions, and sleeping decisions (where will I cough less? Chair or bed?), I felt like i was letting the physical push the spiritual out the season. Blessings!Be! that didn’t happen.

It is time to go to that quiet stable. Bend a knee and recieve the gift. What a gift was given us so long ago. What a gift is given us every day, if we will just go to the stable.

Atitude of Gratitude #27

a womanAttitude of Gratitude #27: God. It is one day out of 365. It is one day set aside to be full of thankfulness and remembrance. It is one day of blessed legacies and love expressed. It is one day that – if you choose – you will remember to crawl as far forward as you can – hands and knees scraped by the stones and broken glass that impede your progress………reach through the ugly, crowded busyness of daily life – head battered by words and actions of those towering above and around…………stretch dirty, grimy fingers as far as posiible just to touch the hem – a hem of His garment trailing behind Him as He passes………………and say………….Thank you.

It is not enough. It can never be enough. Yearning, as a bride for her groom. Not wanting anything more than to express a heart full of thankfulness. 27 days of thankfulness reminds us that there is nothing more important than this – to be thankful for this moment. Incomparable “I AM” moment. Eyes full of thankfulness. Tears full of thankfulness. Spirit full of thankfulness.

Words are inadequate in this moment of true Thanksgiving. Reaching past the physical realm and seeing…”His kingdom come”. Prayer. Repentance. Unity. Communion. Repristination. This is Thanksgiving. This is His day – if we remember – if we choose to remember – the Gift we have been given, and the treasure waiting to be found.

To HaShem…My Father who carved me into the palm of His hand…whose Son stands before me…whose Spirit guides me…I am thankful for my life and this moment of choice.cross
